55 % of net surfers book their travel online
According to an Ad’oc survey, more than one out of two net surfers book their trips online and 61% of them use search engines to get travel information.

Interest of French net surfers was on the rise in 2005. Eighty-eight percent of net surfers questioned by Ad’oc said they used Internet to collect information or to book online. However, only 55% of them always book their whole stay or part of it online.

In 2005, travel tickets (plane, train, bus…) ranked first among most purchased tourism products. They represented 40% of booked services; hotel stays (30%); villa reservation, holiday renting, and camping locations (16%). Car rental constitutes only 8% of transactions, while onsite activity booking, like museum entrance tickets, show tickets or visits, constitutes only 6%.

Challenging the validity of preconceived ideas, Ad’oc study confirms that in 2005 the Internet channel was no longer the last minute booking monopoly. Sixty percent of net surfers say they search and book their holidays several months in advance, 22% book one month in advance and 18% book from three weeks to one week before leaving.
